Anger Management

Anger is a natural, though sometimes unwanted or irrational, emotion that everyone experiences from time to time. Anger can also be a ‘secondary emotion’ to feeling sad, frightened, threatened, or lonely.

Anger is a natural emotion which has evolved as a way of surviving and protecting yourself from what is believed to be a wrongdoing.

Unmanaged anger can lead to depression, anxiety, suicide, and poor relationships. As well as trigger physical changes such as, an increased heart rate, blood pressure and levels of hormones such as adrenaline preparing us physically for ‘fight or flight’. The physical effects of long-term anger can be detrimental to health and wellbeing.

It is useful to try to understand why you (or somebody else) is feeling angry at any given time so that the root causes can be addressed and problems solved. Well-managed anger maybe a useful emotion that motivates you to change in a positive and healthy manner.
